Due to nursing shortage that is happening in most healthcare facilities located in several states, an idea of having on call nurses are being implemented. A nurse who is on call can also be assigned as a Travel RN where she will be performing work on a temporary short-term basis. The usual length of their work is 4 to 13 weeks which usually involves contracts stating their temporary job. Those contracts done outside US can reach up to 1 to 2 years where nurse in this position can receive an extension or an offer for a permanent position after a contract ends.
