Making a small kitchen work is a design challenge. There is not only the space constraint but also less space for ideas. However, small kitchen design ideas tell us that it is the space constraint that must be dealt with first. To start off, reduce the number of items you have in the kitchen. Increase the width of the counter to accommodate more items. Get cabinets that have the height as well as the depth. Have glass doors on them to make the kitchen look spacious. Sell off your old oversized appliances and accessories and go in for the smaller appliances, now being made for small kitchens. There are small microwaves that can be hung from under the cabinets. Clever use of light and kitchen colors can create the illusion of space. Don’t go for dark floors. They make the kitchen look gloomy. Go for a tiled floor that uses big tiles instead of smaller ones.
