I never thought that I could enjoy visiting an art museum. It seemed like a boring, stuffy place for people with too much money and no sense of humor. But when my husband and I visited Australia, a friend of ours convinced us to stop at the Museum of Contemporary Art. She was sure that I would like it, and to my surprise she was right. There was truly something there for every taste, including mine. Oceanic terminology has always eluded me, and I frequently make myself look incompetent when I’m sailing. Sometimes I don’t even know what people are talking about around me, and that can be embarrassing.
The day skipper course teaches you fundamental things about sailing, like what all the nautical terms mean, and how to navigate. There are more advanced sailing courses, but the day skipper course is a good starting point if you already have some experience at sea. The RYA courses will teach you everything you need to have a good sense of competence. For me that’s going to be invaluable. I’m tired of being in the dark when it comes to sailing.
After I become a day skipper, I bet my friends will feel a lot safer on the boat with me. If anything happens I’ll know what to do. I have a few other friends that took some sailing courses, and they’ve been telling me how important it is to get some basic seamanship. The RYA courses are supposed to be a great place to start, and I’m looking forward to getting started on them
My husband Phillip and I are going on holiday. We have been looking at different brochures and have finally decided on renting a caravan. Phillip has been trying to get me to go for the last couple of years. I did not think it would be much fun but after looking at the brochures it looks like it would be loads of fun.
